Dr. Henry J. Kriegstein
Dr. Kriegstein is a board certified ophthalmologist, who graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University. He completed his medical degree at Stanford University Medical School and his residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. In addition, Dr. Kriegstein completed a post-graduate year of fellowship study in retinal and laser surgery. Active staff member at the Jordan Hospital, Dr. Kriegstein is also currently an Affiliate Staff member, Cape Cod Hospital and Referral Staff member, South Shore Hospital. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Outside of the office, Dr. Kriegstein pursues his passion for paleontology, organizing private digs in the Dakotas, Wyoming and Montana and collecting dinosaur fossils. One fossil, which Dr. Kriegstein bought from a collector in Tuscon, turned out to be a completely new, previously undiscovered species. Dr. Kriegstein donated this specimen to the University of Chicago. This much smaller precursor to the Tyrannosaurus rex was later named the "Raptorex Kriegsteini" in honor of Dr. Kriegstein’s father, Roman Kriegstein.
