Diabetic Retinopathy Laser Treatment
Diabetes can cause the tiny vessels in the retina to close off or leak, which can result in vision loss. Patients may require laser therapy to shrink abnormal new vessels, reduce swelling, or stop leaking vessels. Laser treatment is performed in our Plymouth office in a comfortable exam room setting.
Patients can expect a topical or local anesthetic prior to the laser with treatment lasting 10 to 20 minutes, and normal activities can resume immediately. Multiple laser treatments may be required over time, and our doctors will closely monitor your vision with diagnostic and imaging procedures to assess the need for further retinal therapy.
