Cataracts are the most common cause of reversible blindness worldwide. With the passage of time, the eye lens, which focuses light upon the retina, tends to become cloudy and interfere with vision. The problem can be eliminated with surgery to remove the cloudy lens and replace it with a clear, artificial lens.
At Associated Eye Surgeons, this surgery is performed with relaxing medication and eye drops for anesthesia, without sutures, and without the need for an eye patch afterward. The procedure takes approximately 10 to 20 minutes and patients can resume most normal activities the same day. For most patients, driving can resume the next day when the relaxing medication wears off. This surgery is performed at the Ambulatory Surgery and Laser Center of Cape Cod, which is located in Sandwich, MA, on Route 130 in Heritage Park.
Dr. Townshend, Being so afraid during my cataract surgery, I felt your concern for me. Please know that I appreciated your tender approach. Thank you and your warm staff.— Donna G.
